Peanut (f13) IgE details

Description

This test measures IgE antibodies specific to peanut proteins, used to check for a peanut allergy โ€” one of the most common and, unlike some other childhood food allergies, often persistent food allergies, with a meaningful risk of severe reactions including anaphylaxis. A positive result, combined with a history of reactions after peanut exposure, supports a peanut allergy diagnosis, and results are sometimes used alongside oral food challenges (done under medical supervision) to more precisely assess reaction risk, since a positive blood test alone doesn't always predict reaction severity.

Food and Tree Nut Allergy Panel

$147.99

This panel tests for specific IgE antibodies to 17 foods (with an emphasis on tree nuts) that are commonly associated with allergies. Allergen-specific serum IgE testing is considered comparable to skin testing and may be preferred in some clinical situations. However, a positive test result only indicates that a patient is sensitized to the allergen of concern. Many IgE-sensitized individuals do not develop any symptoms when exposed to the allergen. A diagnosis of allergy should only be made by a trained medical provider after conducting a thorough clinical evaluation.
