Codfish (f3) IgE details

Description

This test measures IgE antibodies specific to codfish proteins, used to check for an allergic sensitization to cod and, due to cross-reactive proteins, sometimes other fish species as well. Fish allergy is one of the more common food allergies and, unlike some childhood food allergies, is often lifelong rather than outgrown. A positive result indicates sensitization and, combined with a history of reactions after eating fish, supports a fish allergy diagnosis; because fish species share overlapping allergenic proteins, a positive result to one fish sometimes prompts caution or further testing around other fish as well, though individual tolerance can vary.

Panel

Allergy Panel 19, Seafood Group

$52.49

This in vitro allergen-specific IgE panel is used to quantitatively measure an individual's IgE response to 6 different seafood that are commonly associated with allergies. These shellfish include codfish, crab, lobster, salmon, shrimp, and tuna. This IgE panel is intended to be used in conjunction with other clinical information to aid in the diagnosis of food allergies [1].

Food and Tree Nut Allergy Panel

$147.99

This panel tests for specific IgE antibodies to 17 foods (with an emphasis on tree nuts) that are commonly associated with allergies. Allergen-specific serum IgE testing is considered comparable to skin testing and may be preferred in some clinical situations. However, a positive test result only indicates that a patient is sensitized to the allergen of concern. Many IgE-sensitized individuals do not develop any symptoms when exposed to the allergen. A diagnosis of allergy should only be made by a trained medical provider after conducting a thorough clinical evaluation.

Regional Allergy Panel 2 + Food Allergy Basic Panel

$130.49

This panel combines the Regional Allergy Panel 2 and the Food Allergy Basic Panel to measure IgE antibody levels in response to 6 common food allergens and 21 airborne allergens. It helps identify potential allergic reactions to foods and environmental triggers such as pollen, mold, pet dander, and dust mites.
