Bumble Bee Venom (Bombus terrestris) (i205) IgE Labcorp Not offered

This test is designed to detect allergic reactions to the venom of the Bumble Bee (Bombus terrestris). It measures the presence of IgE antibodies in response to the venom, which are indicators of an allergic reaction. Understanding these levels can help in managing and diagnosing allergies related to bee stings.

Biomarkers
  • BUN/Creatinine Ratio Compares two kidney-related waste markers to help distinguish the cause of abnormal kidney values, such as dehydration versus a kidney-specific problem.
  • Creatinine A waste product from muscle metabolism, filtered by your kidneys. One of the main markers used to assess kidney function.
  • Blood Urea Nitrogen Blood urea nitrogen, a waste product filtered by your kidneys. Used along with creatinine to assess kidney function and hydration status.
  • Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate Estimated glomerular filtration rate โ€” a calculated estimate of how well your kidneys are filtering waste from your blood, based on creatinine and other factors.

Calcitriol 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D Labcorp Not offered

This test checks the active form of vitamin D in your body. It's mainly used to help figure out why someone has low calcium levels and to keep an eye on people with bone problems due to kidney disease or those with chronic kidney failure. However, it's not the right test for finding out if you're low on vitamin D or for tracking how well vitamin D supplements are working. For those needs, the 25-hydroxyvitamin D test is recommended.

Cancer Antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9)

CA 19-9 (Cancer Antigen 19-9) is a protein that may be elevated in the blood of individuals with gastrointestinal cancers, particularly pancreatic cancer. It is mainly used to monitor treatment response and disease progression, but it is not specific enough for early cancer detection, as levels can also rise in non-cancerous conditions like pancreatitis or liver disease.

Cancer Antigen 27-29 (CA 27-29)

CA 27-29 is a tumor marker primarily used to monitor breast cancer. It measures a protein released by cancer cells into the blood. Like CA 15-3, it is used to assess treatment response and detect recurrence, but it is not recommended for initial diagnosis due to possible elevation in non-cancerous conditions such as liver disease or benign breast disorders.

Candida albicans Antibodies (IgG, IgA, IgM) Labcorp Not offered

This test checks for antibodies against Candida albicans, a fungus that can cause candidiasis. Candidiasis can be a simple, localized infection or a severe, systemic illness that might be life-threatening. Candida Immune Complex Labcorp Not offered

Candida Immune Complexes which form in vivo are comprised of Candida Albicans antigen, anti-Candida IgG antibodies, and complement. The presence of these complexes is an indication of overgrowth of C. albicans in the gut. Candida overgrowth was first described by Brabander and associates in 1957. Diagnosis of the condition has been difficult due to the ubiquitous nature of Candida resulting in the existence of antibodies to it in a large percentage of the normal population. It is also difficult to isolate by culture from stool due to the overgrowth by normal intestinal flora. Symptoms of Candida intestinal overgrowth include bloating, itching, and skin rashes. Lehman and Reiss suggested that the presence of immune complexes to Candida is an objective means of diagnosing the condition. The results of Broughton and Lanson concluded that the marker for Candida immune complexes not only aid in diagnosing intestinal overgrowth, but that levels of complexes decrease during successful treatment.
