Description
CA 27-29 is a tumor marker used mainly to help monitor treatment response and watch for recurrence in people already diagnosed with breast cancer, rather than as a screening or diagnostic test. Levels generally trend down with successful treatment and can rise again if the cancer recurs or progresses, making trends over time more informative than any single result. It can also be mildly elevated by non-cancerous conditions like liver disease, kidney disease, ovarian cysts, or even normal menstruation and pregnancy, so results are always interpreted in the context of a person's full clinical picture and imaging findings rather than in isolation.
