Apolipoprotein A-1 details

Description

Apolipoprotein A-1 (ApoA-1) is the main structural protein of HDL ('good') cholesterol particles, and roughly one ApoA-1 molecule corresponds to one functional HDL particle, making it a useful complement to a standard HDL cholesterol measurement. Higher ApoA-1 levels are generally associated with better cardiovascular protection, since ApoA-1 plays a direct role in helping HDL particles collect excess cholesterol from tissues and arteries and transport it back to the liver. It's sometimes used alongside ApoB (and the ApoB/ApoA-1 ratio) as an additional, particle-based way to assess cardiovascular risk, which some research suggests may be more precise than standard cholesterol measurements alone, particularly in people with borderline or discordant lipid results.

Single marker

Apolipoprotein A-1

$21.99

Apolipoprotein A-1 (Apo-A1) is the main protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), often called โ€œgood cholesterol.โ€

Cardio IQ Apolipoprotein A-1

$21.99

Apolipoprotein A1 is the primary protein associated with HDL cholesterol. Like HDL cholesterol, increased concentrations are associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease.

Apolipoprotein Evaluation

$43.10

Panel measuring Apo A1, Apo B, and Lp(a) to assess lipid-related cardiovascular risk.

Sample type

Biomarkers
  • Apolipoprotein A-1 The main protein component of HDL ('good') cholesterol. Higher levels are generally associated with better cardiovascular protection.
  • Apolipoprotein B The main protein found on LDL and other 'bad' cholesterol particles. Considered a strong indicator of cardiovascular risk, since each particle carries one ApoB molecule.
  • Lipoprotein(a) A genetically-determined, LDL-like particle. Elevated levels are an independent, largely inherited risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

Apolipoprotein Evaluation with ApoB/ApoA-1 Ratio

$38.49

Apolipoprotein A1 is the primary protein associated with HDL cholesterol. Like HDL cholesterol, increased concentrations are associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. Apolipoprotein B-100 is the primary protein associated with LDL cholesterol and other lipid particles. Like LDL cholesterol, increased concentrations are associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The ratio of these two apolipoproteins correlates with risk of cardiovascular disease.

Apolipoprotein Evaluation with Lipoprotein(a)

$47.99

Apolipoprotein Evaluation measures key proteins involved in lipid metabolism, including Apolipoprotein A-1 (Apo-A1), Apolipoprotein B (Apo-B), and Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]. This panel provides a detailed assessment of cardiovascular risk beyond traditional cholesterol tests.
