Epstein-Barr Virus Nuclear Antigen Ab IgG details
Description
This antibody targets the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) nuclear antigen, and it's notable for appearing later than other EBV antibodies โ typically not until 6 weeks to several months after infection โ and then persisting for life. Because of this delayed appearance, a positive nuclear antigen antibody essentially rules out a very recent infection, making it a useful piece of the puzzle (alongside VCA IgG/IgM and early antigen antibodies) for determining whether an EBV infection is truly recent, ongoing, or well in the past.
