Epstein-Barr Virus Early Antigen Ab IgG details
Description
This antibody rises during active or very recent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection and then typically fades over the following months, unlike VCA IgG or EBV nuclear antigen antibodies, which persist for life. Because of this pattern, early antigen antibodies are useful for helping pinpoint how recently an EBV infection occurred, which can be helpful when the timing of a mono-like illness is unclear or when unusual, prolonged, or reactivated EBV-related symptoms are being evaluated.
