Description
Deamidated gliadin peptide (DGP) IgG is an antibody used to help screen for celiac disease, and it's especially useful in people who have selective IgA deficiency — a relatively common condition (more common in people with celiac disease specifically) that can cause standard IgA-based celiac tests, including tTG-IgA, to falsely read as negative even when celiac disease is present. Because of this, total IgA is often checked alongside celiac antibody testing, and if IgA is low, IgG-based tests like this one become the more reliable option. As with other celiac tests, accuracy depends on continuing to eat gluten before testing.
