Stachybotrys chartarum/atra IgE Test This test checks for allergic reactions to a specific type of mold, Stachybotrys chartarum/atra, often found in water-damaged buildings. This mold grows on materials like ceiling tiles and wallboards because they contain cellulose, which the mold uses for growth.
Who should consider this test?
This test is recommended for individuals who may have been exposed to Stachybotrys mold and are experiencing allergy symptoms. Producing specific IgE antibodies in response to mold exposure indicates an allergic reaction. Symptoms can reappear upon re-exposure to mold spores.
