Description
This test checks for the presence of Scl-70 antibodies, which are found in about 40% of individuals with progressive systemic sclerosis (PSS), a form of scleroderma. Scleroderma is a group of autoimmune diseases that cause the skin and connective tissues to harden and tighten.

This test may be recommended for individuals showing symptoms of scleroderma, which can include:
- Hardening and tightening of the skin
- Swelling of the hands and feet
- Pain and stiffness in the joints
- Red spots on the skin
- Difficulty swallowing
- Facial changes, such as thinning of the lips
