This test measures the IgE antibody levels in response to house dust, helping to identify allergic reactions. It's a quantitative assay that, along with other clinical information, assists in diagnosing allergic diseases.
Why might a Provider order this test?
Providers may prefer this test over skin tests in certain situations, such as when a patient has widespread skin disease, has recently used antihistamines, is uncooperative, or when there's a high risk of a severe allergic reaction from skin testing.
What does this test involve?
This test requires a small sample of serum (0.3 mL) from the patient.
