Description
Rheumatoid factor (RF) IgM is an antibody associated with rheumatoid arthritis, present in the majority of people with the condition, though it's also found in various other autoimmune and chronic inflammatory conditions, and even in a portion of healthy people, particularly with age — meaning it isn't specific enough to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis on its own. It's typically ordered alongside anti-CCP antibodies (which are more specific to rheumatoid arthritis) and evaluated together with joint symptoms and inflammatory markers like ESR or CRP when this diagnosis is being considered.
