C-Peptide details

Description

C-peptide is a byproduct created in equal amounts to insulin whenever your pancreas produces and releases insulin, making it a useful indirect way to measure your body's own insulin production โ€” even in people who are taking insulin medication, since injected insulin doesn't contain C-peptide and won't affect the result. It's particularly useful for distinguishing type 1 diabetes (where C-peptide is typically low, since the pancreas has stopped producing much insulin) from type 2 diabetes (where C-peptide is often normal or even high, especially early on, reflecting insulin resistance rather than insulin deficiency). It's also used to help evaluate unexplained low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), including investigating rare insulin-producing tumors.

Single marker

C-Peptide

$23.99

C-Peptide is a substance produced in the pancreas, released into the bloodstream in equal amounts to insulin. Measuring C-peptide levels helps assess how much insulin the body is producing, which can aid in distinguishing between type 1 and type 2 diabetes or evaluating insulin-producing tumors (insulinomas).

  • C-Peptide A byproduct made in equal amounts to insulin when your pancreas produces it. Helps distinguish how much insulin your body is actually making, useful in diabetes evaluation.

Panel

Cardio IQ Insulin Resistance Panel with Score

$98.49

The Cardio IQยฎ Insulin Resistance Panel with Score This is a test that measures insulin levels in the blood to help diagnose diabetes, pre-diabetes, and insulin resistance syndromes. Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps your body use glucose for energy. The test also looks at C-peptide levels, which are linked to insulin production, to provide a clearer picture of how well your body is managing blood sugar. The Insulin Resistance score integrates these clinical parameters to assess your risk and severity of insulin resistance.

Metabolic Risk Panel

$112.49

This panel is for early assessment of metabolic risk, using carefully selected tests that identify early metabolic deviations indicating disease risk. This panel has been selected to identify physiological changes oftentimes evident before the manifestation of common metabolic syndrome risk factors, to aid practitioners in identifying risk and delaying or preventing disease progression.

Biomarkers
  • Apolipoprotein B The main protein found on LDL and other 'bad' cholesterol particles. Considered a strong indicator of cardiovascular risk, since each particle carries one ApoB molecule.
  • C-Peptide A byproduct made in equal amounts to insulin when your pancreas produces it. Helps distinguish how much insulin your body is actually making, useful in diabetes evaluation.
  • Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Reflects your average blood sugar over the past 2-3 months, based on how much sugar has attached to your hemoglobin. Key marker for diabetes diagnosis and monitoring.
  • Total Cholesterol The combined measure of all cholesterol in your blood โ€” HDL, LDL, and other lipoproteins together. A foundational marker of cardiovascular risk.
  • Triglycerides A type of fat in your blood used for energy storage. Elevated levels are linked to increased cardiovascular risk and often reflect diet, weight, or metabolic health.
  • HDL Cholesterol The 'good' cholesterol that helps remove excess cholesterol from your bloodstream. Higher levels are generally linked to lower cardiovascular risk.
  • Insulin, Intact, Lc/Ms/Ms
  • Insulin Resistance Score
  • LDL Cholesterol (by calculation) The 'bad' cholesterol that can build up in artery walls. A core marker used to assess cardiovascular disease risk.
  • Non-HDL Cholesterol Total cholesterol minus HDL โ€” capturing all the potentially artery-clogging ('bad') cholesterol particles in one number.
  • Total Cholesterol / HDL Ratio Compares your total cholesterol to your HDL ('good') cholesterol, offering a quick snapshot of cardiovascular risk balance.
