y-Tocopherol details
Description
Gamma-tocopherol is a form of vitamin E commonly found in many dietary vegetable oils (like soybean and corn oil), distinct from alpha-tocopherol, the most biologically active form typically emphasized in supplements. Measuring both forms together gives a fuller picture of overall vitamin E status than looking at alpha-tocopherol alone, and some research has explored gamma-tocopherol's own distinct antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, though alpha-tocopherol remains the primary form used to define vitamin E sufficiency.
