Description

Tissue transglutaminase (tTG) IgG is used to screen for celiac disease, and it's particularly useful in people with selective IgA deficiency — a condition more common in people with celiac disease, which can cause the standard tTG-IgA test to give a falsely negative result even when celiac disease is actually present. Because of this, total IgA is typically checked alongside celiac screening, and if IgA is found to be low, this IgG-based test becomes the more reliable option. As with tTG-IgA, accurate results depend on continuing to eat gluten before testing.
