TB2 Antigen details
Description
TB2 antigen is the second of two specific antigen stimulation tubes used in the QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus blood test for tuberculosis, designed to additionally trigger a response from CD8 T-cells, in addition to CD4 cells, which may improve detection sensitivity compared to relying on CD4 response alone. As with TB1, the immune response measured in this tube is compared against the unstimulated 'nil' control to help determine whether the overall test result indicates evidence of TB exposure.
