Description
TB1 antigen is one of two specific antigen stimulation tubes used in the QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus blood test for tuberculosis, designed to trigger a response mainly from CD4 'helper' T-cells if your immune system has previously encountered TB bacteria. Comparing the immune response in this tube (and the related TB2 tube) against the unstimulated 'nil' control tube is how the overall test determines whether you show evidence of TB exposure, and the specific design of TB1 and TB2 together helps improve the test's overall sensitivity.
