S. cerevisiae IgA details
Description
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker's/brewer's yeast) antibodies, IgA type, are sometimes elevated in Crohn's disease, one of the two main types of inflammatory bowel disease, and are used as part of a broader antibody panel to help distinguish Crohn's disease from ulcerative colitis (the other main type) when inflammatory bowel disease is suspected based on symptoms like chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, or weight loss. These antibodies aren't diagnostic on their own and are interpreted alongside imaging, colonoscopy findings, and other clinical information.
