pANCA details

pANCA (perinuclear anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies) is an autoantibody pattern associated with certain types of vasculitis (blood vessel inflammation), particularly microscopic polyangiitis, and also seen in some cases of inflammatory bowel disease, especially ulcerative colitis. A positive pANCA result is typically followed up with more specific testing (like myeloperoxidase/MPO antibodies) to help clarify the underlying pattern, and interpreted together with your symptoms — kidney, lung, or nerve involvement for vasculitis, or digestive symptoms for inflammatory bowel disease.
