non-HDL details
Description
Non-HDL cholesterol is calculated by subtracting your HDL ('good') cholesterol from your total cholesterol, capturing the cholesterol carried by all the potentially artery-clogging lipoprotein particles together โ LDL, VLDL, Lp(a), and others โ in a single number. Some guidelines consider non-HDL cholesterol a more complete cardiovascular risk marker than LDL alone, since it accounts for all atherogenic particles, doesn't require fasting to be accurate, and remains reliable even when triglycerides are elevated, a situation where calculated LDL can become less accurate.
