Description
The mitogen value is a control result used in certain specialized immune function tests (like T-cell function or NK cell activity panels), where a substance (mitogen) is used to stimulate immune cells in the lab and confirm they're capable of responding normally. A robust mitogen response confirms the test itself is working properly and that the immune cells being evaluated are functionally responsive, which helps validate the interpretation of the other, more specific results in the same panel.
