Description
LD isoenzyme 4 is a specific form of lactate dehydrogenase found predominantly in the kidneys, placenta, and pancreas, among other tissues. It's one of five LD isoenzymes that can be separated out when investigating an elevated total LDH result in more detail, though this kind of isoenzyme breakdown is used far less often today than more specific, tissue-targeted tests for kidney, pancreatic, or placental conditions.
