Description

This test detects total hepatitis A antibodies — both the earlier IgM response and the longer-lasting IgG response — providing a combined picture of either past infection or immunity from vaccination. A positive total antibody result generally means you're protected against hepatitis A, whether from having had the infection previously or from vaccination, though it doesn't distinguish between the two; if it's important to know whether an infection is recent, the IgM-specific test is used instead.
