Estrone (E1) details

Estrone (E1) is one of the three main forms of estrogen (along with estradiol and estriol), and it's produced largely by the conversion of androgens in fat tissue, which means it becomes relatively more prominent after menopause, when ovarian estradiol production drops off and fat tissue becomes the primary estrogen source. Because of this fat-tissue link, estrone levels tend to run higher in people with more body fat. It's used to help assess overall estrogen status, particularly in postmenopausal women, and can be relevant when evaluating estrogen-related symptoms or certain hormone-sensitive conditions.
