Description
This measures the percentage of your total lymphocytes that are CD4 'helper' T-cells, used alongside the absolute CD4 count to assess immune function, particularly in HIV monitoring. The percentage can be a more stable measure than the absolute count in some situations, since it's less affected by day-to-day fluctuations in total white blood cell numbers, and is sometimes preferred for tracking children's immune status. Like the absolute count, a declining percentage suggests weakening immune function, while stable or rising percentages on treatment reflect immune recovery.
